She was a director of the Bernhard Baron Institute of Pathology. ==Life== Russell was born in Sydney in 1895. By the time she was eight both her mother and father had died and as a result she and her sister were sent to be cared for by her aunt at Fowlmere in England.〔(Professor Dorothy Russell, LHMC alumna, Pathology Institute Director ), Retrieved 7 September 2015〕 She went to the Perse High School for Girls before gaining a first class degree at Girton College. She went on to study at London Hospital Medical College (LHMC) where she discovered a mentor in Hubert Turnbull. Turnbull was the Professor of morbid anatomy and she was funded to work with him for some years. She published ''A Classification of Bright's Disease'' in 1930.〔J. T.
